At Warinyan Farm we believe that healthy plants and animals depend on healthy soils and ecosystems, and that includes us. We are constantly trying to work with nature using regenerative, permaculture, and holistic techniques to build top soil so that we can make a living from the land whilst increasing fertility, nourishing ourselves, and leading happy, fulfilled lives.
Warinyan farm is a mixed small farm growing annual vegetables, fruit & herbs. We also have a small herd of cattle, a pair of ducks and guinea fowl, a few geese, chooks, honey and native stingless bees, and a mischievous kelpie pup named Django.

Our main vegetable production beds are primarily growing produce for our vegetable ferments and drink flavourings. This centres around cabbages & root vegetables but we grow a variety of things including cabbage, Chinese cabbage/wombok, daikon radish, beetroot, carrots, onion, garlic, ginger, turmeric, tomato, capsicum, eggplant, cucumber, zucchini, pumpkin, yacon and rosella.
We also have a kitchen garden and orchard with lots of fruit trees and vines. The lemons, limes, guavas, passionfruit, and pomegranate feature heavily in our pickles and drinks.

All of our produce is grown naturally and organically so we can create the best and tastiest products possible. Our property is very hilly so we have used terraces to slow the movement of water down the slope, and make level growing areas. Between the terraces we have banks of perennial flowers, herbs and self seeding annuals to attract all the good bugs to help us control pests, provide habitat, and create beauty. Biodiversity is so important for healthy ecosystems. We improve beds with compost, organic fertilisers, green manures, mulch and use a no-dig approach in most areas. Each season provides new challenges and learning opportunities making life ever more interesting!
